Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant (Full Time)

Reporting To: Director of Finance

Location: Syracuse, New York (Not Remote)

Employment Type: Full Time | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Monday – Friday

Salary: $55k-$65k (Based On Experience)

Role Description: This position, under the direction of the Director of Finance, will support day-to-day transactions and month end closing. Responsibilities include assisting with accounting, finance, and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze the department budget with the departments.
  • Determination of prevailing wages for accurate certified Payroll.
  • Assist with sales and use tax filings.
  • Accounts payable reconciliation.
  • Support month end closing as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Google Suite
  • High level of integrity.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Clear understanding of data privacy standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Rootstock, QuickBooks, Bill.com) preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferably in construction or contracting.
  • Strong knowledge of prevailing wage regulations, financial reporting, and accrual accounting practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
